Frustrated you can not find a great source for outdoor lighting online?

Using the correct outdoor lighting terminology, especially when searching online, plays a big role in finding the right source. But which term(s) should you use? Different people associate outdoor lighting by so many different names. Lets look at the problem.

If you search using the General Terms: Outdoor Lighting, Landscape Lighting or Exterior Lighting you will get different results... but that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Other Terms: Low voltage landscape lighting, 12v outdoor lighting, garden lights, or yard lights.
Fixture specific terms: Pathlight, path way lighting, deck light, spotlight, flood light solar lights, LED lights, landscape lighting fixture.
Brand searches: Kichler landscape lighting, Vista Outdoor Lighting.
Descriptive searches: High quality landscape lighting, professional outdoor lighting, security dusk to dawn lighting, brass landscape light fixture, copper pathlight, quality outdoor lighting, low voltage exterior lighting -- they yield even different results.
Wording variations all all of the above: like outdoor light or outdoor lights instead of outdoor lighting ( the same goes for landscape light, landscape lights, landscape lighting, exterior lighting, exterior lights, exterior light).
Combinations of terms: High quality low voltage copper landscape light fixtures. In the end tens of thousands of terms to search for the same thing, but all with different results.

All of these return different results, so what should I do?

Outdoor Lighting is the general category for all lighting that is outside. This category includes items like post and porch lights that attach to your house, landscape lighting that is in your yard, security lighting, and both line voltage (120v) and low voltage (12v).

Landscape Lighting is the general category for all lighting that is in your yard, garden and landscape. It is mainly low voltage (12v).

Exterior Lighting is a lesser used alternate term for outdoor lighting and often applies to line voltage (120v). Covers the same products as outdoor lighting.

The shorter versions like outdoor lights, landscape light, exterior lights will all work but cut out results. They tend to have more individual fixture results and less overall sources to buy them.

Use the general terms for sources, the short terms and specifics for particular fixtures. Add a word or two to the general term if you are unsatisfied with the general source results. For example, if you are a contractor, try "wholesale landscape lighting" or "outdoor lighting wholesale distributors".

Introducing Volt Brand Tuesday, February 3, 2009
Landscape Lighting World has been appointed the exclusive factory direct distribution arm for Volt Corp. Their products are only available wholesale to the trade in limited production runs. They provide a compelling model for manufacturing and distribution that may signal a new direction for the industry.

Who is Volt Corp?
Volt is the industry's only premium, professional grade manufacturer to sell direct to the contractor. Volt's product line features some of the industry's most impressive components (see below). Most fixtures are cast brass with some versions also offered in aluminum.

Volt Manufacturing:
All Volt products are custom designed and manufactured from the ground up by Volt Corp. Each component is individually specified based on its ability to resist corrosion. Volt's manufacturing philosophy is:

Longevity and quality for outdoor lighting fixtures is dependant on:
1. Design and construction that keeps moisture out of the electrical components.
2. Premium components and materials that resist corrosion.
3. Thick, solid construction for durability.

All Volt products feature:

  • Moisture sealed bodies
  • Tinned copper wiring throughout fixture
  • Beryllium copper sockets (most corrosion resistant conductor alloy for electrical applications)
  • Heat shrink tubing over internal splices
  • Stainless steel or brass screws
  • Sockets, threads and screws pre-greased with dielectric grease
  • Silicon injected at lead wire exit to prevent ground moisture from entering fixture
  • 10 foot long lead wire standard
  • UL braided sleeve protectors

  • Stainless steel heat shield reflectors (spotlights only)
  • Convex, domed lens for water drainage
  • Thick brass screws and knuckles

Distribution:
Volt believes the most efficient distribution is online -- direct from the factory to the contractor. This model saves contractors about 40%. Volts model is not about lower prices. It is about higher quality for better prices.

Warranty:
Volt offers the industry's only "No Hassle Warranty" (even includes electrical components). If the item is defective or fails to work for any reason, send it back and get a brand new replacement. No exclusions, no fine print. All you need is a receipt. Lifetime Warranty on all Brass and Copper fixtures, 5 Year on all Aluminum fixtures.

The Message:
Don't sacrifice quality. Don't short change customers. Now you can afford to deliver exceptional performance.

Contractors, if you are looking for an edge -- competitors won't be able to compete on quality or price when you use Volt Corps fixtures. There simply is not a better fixture for the price period.
